2nd Annual China Soy & Corn Outlook 2008
19th-20th June 2008 Swissotel Beijing

Overview

China’s insatiable appetite and changing demand for more varied diet, including meats and grains, is significantly lifting consumption of soybeans and corns. From soybean prices reaching 34-year highs, fuelled by aggressive buying from China and growing competition for feed from India & China, the popularity of ethanol for fuel will also drive up corn prices.

On the supply side, as a major corn producer globally, China has decided to suspend all approvals for industrial corn processing units for the next 3 years, to contain the demand for corn and stabilize prices. Since March 2008, the

Chinese government has tightened corn exports, keeping the world guessing whether it will become a net corn buyer as in the case with soy in 1996. Continuing informa and IBC’s history in commodities’ events ranging from rice, sugar, coffee, corn and soy conferences, this is the ideal platform for the industry, producers, processors, traders and researchers in Asia’s fast-growing
corn and top soy market.
